SCENE : richard chai love spring 2012

“It’s Harajuku meets Venice Beach, like a Japanese surfer girl” – that was the party line backstage at Richard Chai where blue and purple lips mingled with orange and pink lids. Sleek ponies and a bare face were the order of the day as Technicolor models strolled down the runway in Chai’s self-described “eye candy” collection. Although not an easily accessible look for most, I predict that we’ll be seeing this use of color in plenty of editorial throughout the season.

James Kaliardos, the lead artist for the MAC Cosmetics team, on color:

“It’s a great way to boost not only your spirit but your energy. Color is a very giving thing. When you wear black all the time, it really sucks your energy, and color gives it back.”

i love the third lip look – it kind of looks like nars train blue which i have been trying to get the nerve up to purchase. i’m still a little timid, though. models make everything seem so wearable!
