SCENE : the Costume Institute Gala

When it comes to glamour, the annual Met Gala surpasses the Oscars. For one glorious evening, creative license is embraced in the name of fashion. At this year’s event, honoring the Alexander McQueen : Savage Beauty retrospective, the red carpet received both stunning style and a much needed infusion of color in the form of bright lips and dramatic eyes.

With an untamed pixie and commendably daring turquoise eyes, Ginnifer Goodwin was my look of the night. Under the direction of the ever-talented Molly Stern, the Olsen Twins gave us range : Ashley was on trend with a strong brow and nude face, while Mary-Kate opted for a warm halo eye and a soft pink lip. Diane Kruger showed us how to do timeless and classic with side-swept curls and pitch perfect red lips.  Emma Stone, with her porcelain skin, blonde updo and bright pink lips did not go unnoticed. Also worth mentioning, Kristen Stewart. Her sultry smokey eyes, courtesy of Beau Nelson and Cover Girl Liquiline Blast eyeliner, Line Exact liquid liner in Very Black were clean, intense and not the least bit overdone. I stand inspired.
